A medical crisis can turn a family’s world upside down. Travel, hotels, meals, and transportation can add thousands of dollars to an already overwhelming situation. Fisher House Southern California helps remove one of those burdens. Eligible military and veteran families can stay close to their loved one while they receive medical care, at no cost to the family and for as long as medically needed.

U.S. Army Sergeant Matthew Melancon served as an Army infantryman from 2008 to 2013 before being wounded and medically retired. Today, he is a double amputee, husband, father, athlete, and Paralympic snowboarding hopeful.
The Larry and Helen Hoag Foundation will match every gift through December 31, 2026, up to $50,000.

Fisher House SoCal supports five Fisher Houses across Southern California
Long Beach | Camp Pendleton | 2 in San Diego | Los Angeles
Fisher Houses are “homes away from home” for patients and their families receiving medical care at military and VA medical centers. While the homes are normally within walking distance of the treatment facility and offer nearby transportation, several facilities in Southern California do not have adjacent Fisher Houses. For our veterans and active military receiving treatment at these locations, Fisher House So Cal arranges and offers lodging for their families at the nearest hotel, as long as eligibility requirements are met.
